This captivating city mansion in Antwerp stands as one of the most captivating expressions of Art Nouveau in the city.
We were elated to undertake the restoration of as much original carpentry throughout the house as possible while introducing new elements that would harmonize with and elevate its distinctive character. Employing traditional techniques and materials, we meticulously restored all carpentry to ensure its longevity for generations to come. Every technical update was carefully executed with an eye toward future-proofing the house.
Beyond restoring parts of the basement, kitchen, and the +1 floor, we devoted significant attention to designing new furniture.
Our approach to the design of these new elements was rooted in a profound respect for the history and essence of the house. Our goal was to create spaces that not only embraced functionality and modernity but also remained true to the spirit of the original design. To achieve this, we closely examined the existing architecture and materials, utilizing them as a foundation for our work.
The white cabinets in the new kitchen share the same lacquer as the carpentry throughout the house. While incorporating clean lines for the white cabinets, we also integrated design elements reminiscent of the original ceiling. The oak cabinets feature a curved design, mirroring the ceiling, and the yellow table not only introduces a touch of color but is also curved to harmonize with the overall aesthetic.
