The task for this penthouse duplex in the heart of Antwerp appeared straightforward: incorporate light, clean lines, and utilize honest materials. However, the execution turned out to be far from simple.
Preserving the charming original features, such as the staircase, became a priority. We meticulously restored them and crafted a bespoke steel railing. The wooden kitchen island shares the same varnish as the stairs, ensuring a seamless connection between old and new elements. In this area, the heating units are discreetly enclosed, not only concealing them from view but also providing additional storage throughout the living space.
Attending closely to the technical aspects of all carpentry, we devised cabinets that exude cleanliness when desired yet effortlessly transform with a simple gesture, becoming practical and ready for use.
